Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora, on Wednesday, said that EVMs can malfunction like any other electronic devices but it can never be “tampered”.Speaking a the Times Now Summit 2020, over political parties raising doubts over EVMs, the CEC said, “The paper ballot is out, there will be no reconsideration on it. As far as EVMs are concerned, so many courts have upheld our explanation to them with regard to EMVs. I have participated in several elections and all had different results. EVMs have been in use since the past two decades and it’s not new. Is there any pre-conceived notion that if X party wins EVMs are under suspicion or A, B, C parties or their variants win, EVMs are fine. EC officials who supervise EVMs functioning do feel hurt when they hear this kind of criticism.”
