India’s dynamic squash duo, Dipika Pallikal and Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu, secured a resounding victory today at the Asian Games 2023, claiming the Gold medal in the mixed doubles event. This triumph marked their exceptional performance on Thursday, October 5, and added to India’s stellar medal count, now standing at a remarkable 83.

Facing a formidable challenge in the final from Malaysia’s Aifa Azman and Kamal Mohammad Syafiq, Pallikal and Sandhu displayed unwavering determination. Ultimately, they triumphed with a 2-0 scoreline (11-10, 11-10), solidifying India’s dominance in squash.

Dipika Pallikal, who had previously contributed to the team’s Bronze medal, and Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu, a key figure in the men’s team’s Gold win, showcased their prowess from the very start, ensuring a memorable victory.

In another closely-watched match, Saurav Ghosal secured a Silver medal after a hard-fought battle in the men’s singles final, narrowly losing 9-11, 11-9, 11-5, 11-7 to Malaysia’s Eain Yow Ng.

India’s squash journey at Asiad 2023 has been nothing short of extraordinary, with a Gold in the team event against Pakistan and a Bronze in the women’s team event. Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh also contributed to India’s medal haul with a Bronze in mixed doubles.

This latest Gold medal from Pallikal and Sandhu has brought India’s total Gold count to 20, making this year’s Asian Games their most successful ever. In a remarkable day for India, they secured three Gold medals, pushing the overall medal tally to a staggering 86.
