Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 16 and is learnt to have discussed among other issues, state of the economy. Due to lockdown, several sectors are not running in their full capacity. Many distressed sectors have already demanded a bailout financial package/economic package in order to remain in business.
It is widely anticipated that the FM may announce a comprehensive economic package sometime later in the day.
The MSME sector is anticipating at least Rs 1 lakh crore of immediate financial relief as most of the small businesses are shut for past 23-days, since the first lockdown was announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in order to fight and stop the spread of corona in the industry is expecting an economic package of at least Rs 9-10 lakh crore from the Central Government.Dailyhunt
