On a day when the entire nation is observing ‘Janata Curfew’, on Sunday, a petrol bomb was hurled by an unidentified person at police barricades near the protest site at Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh.Notably, women at Shaheen Bagh had refused to stop their protests today even though Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed people to self-impose a lockdown to contain the spread of coronavirus that has caused six deaths in the country. However, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of the area, Kumar Gyanesh added that no one was injured and a preliminary inquiry revealed that the bombs were not meant to attack the protesters. ‘Petrol Bomb was hurled on barricades away from the protesters, we have recovered some bottles used in the case and are investigating on it,’ Additional DCP, Kumar Gyanesh said. The incident took place at around 9.30 am, they said. A police team has found five-six petrol-filled bottles at the site. ‘Two people were seen on a bike near the barricades, we are checking the CCTV footage for detailed investigation,’ Gyanesh added.
