PM Modi Pays Tribute To Mahatma Gandhi, Says His ‘Impact Is Global’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today remembered the ‘Father of the Nation’ Mahatma Gandhi on his 154th birthday.

Prime Minister Modi said that Gandhi had “encouraged the common man to develop a spirit of generosity and compassion”.

He said on X, “On this special day of Gandhi Jayanti, I pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. His timeless teachings continue to light our way. Mahatma Gandhi’s influence is global and inspires all mankind to develop the spirit of unity and compassion. Work. toward fulfilling your dreams. Wishes to every age. “May he reflect the changes he has made and promote unity and harmony everywhere.”

Later, PM Modi paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat in the capital. Delhi LG VK Saxena, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and other leaders also came to Rajghat to pay their respects to Mahatma Gandhi.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Modi led the nation in the ‘Swachhata Salam Seva Abhiyan’ as he participated in a mega cleanliness drive ahead of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. Social media influencer Ankit Bhayanpuri has become an example of Modi taking a broom and cleaning the ground with wrestlers.

Swachh Bharat Diwas or Swachhta Diwas is celebrated every year on October 2 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. During this march, politicians and citizens perform tasks such as sweeping and collecting garbage as part of the national cleanliness drive.

October 2 marks the birthday of Lal Bahadur Shastri, the second Prime Minister of India. Prime Minister Modi recalled his “unwavering commitment to India’s development” and said the call of “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan” still resonates today.
