In a historic moment for Nicaragua, Sheynnis Palacios was crowned Miss Universe 2023, securing her country’s first-ever victory at the prestigious international beauty pageant. The 72nd edition of the Miss Universe competition took place on Saturday night at the Jose Adolfo Pineda Arena in San Salvador, El Salvador.

Palacios’ triumph was announced on the official Instagram page of Miss Universe, stating, “MISS UNIVERSE 2023 is @sheynnispalacios_of!” The newly crowned Miss Universe, aged 23, hails from Managua, Nicaragua, and is recognized not only for her beauty but also as a passionate mental health activist and audiovisual producer.

Miss Thailand, Anntonia Porsild, claimed the first runner-up position, while Miss Australia, Moraya Wilson, was named the second runner-up at the event. R’Bonney Gabriel, the outgoing Miss Universe from the USA, had the honor of crowning Palacios during the glamorous ceremony.

Palacios, known for her problem-solving attitude, financed her communications program at the university by working in her mother’s snack business. Stepping into the limelight, she became the economic and emotional support for her family during challenging times.
