A fun-filled interview with Writer and Director Mr Deepakk Sunil Prasadh

Entertainment and Bollywood have always been a centre of attraction for the audience, be it a new movie or a new show! Over these years, the quality of the content in the entertainment industry have improved drastically and everyone is loving it. But who is behind such quality content?

Today we have Mr Deepakk Sunil Prasadh who owns FilmiAdda.com and is also a writer and director for some major projects in the entertainment industry.

  • Tell us a bit more about your website FilmiAdda.com

FilmiAdda.com is a passion project. It is a project which is close to my heart. It is based on the principles of democracy, of the filmi, for the filmi, by the filmi, this was the driving force behind the conceptualisation of Filmiadda.com, a platform which is a one-stop-shop for entertainment needs, be it reviews, News, gossip and behind the scenes scoops.  Right now the website is in Phase 1 of development. We hope to start with Phase 2 by the first quarter of 2022. That is when we hope to reach the amount of traffic for our planned Phase 1 targets.

  • Why did you choose to start this (specific) business?

So let me just give you a little backstory about me, before getting into the question. I am a Writer & Director, and I have been working in the entertainment industry since 2003 and have worked on projects like Laal Ishq (& TV) & Virgin Woman Diaries – Season 2 & 3 as a Director along with other shows in the pipeline. Our industry is unpredictable and a very beautiful piece of advice from my father which I hold dear to me is “Always have extra skills in your arsenal, if your primary plan falters, you should have the skills to get back up and face the world“. This was the advice that kept me going, to pursue my work as a director. And exactly this advice is what laid the foundation of FilmiAdda. Choosing to foray into unknown territory was scary, but foraying into something close to my heart seemed natural, hence Starting a portal that deals with the entertainment industry were the obvious choice.

  • How did you get your idea or concept for this business?

FilmiAdda.com was an idea developed by 2 very distinctly filmi people, me and my sister, Arati Prasad. Arati is the one with Ideas and I’m the one with the execution brains. Back in 2017, while we were thinking of ways to take our experience of the film industry forward, we thought of multiple things we could do. FilmiAdda was one of such ideas we thought of. Arati being the overzealous one was looking up domain names and stumbled onto the domain FilmiAdda.com and the rest as it’s said is history.

  • Who is your role model and why?

That’s a very good question, and it has now got me thinking, how weird of me, I’ve never thought of anyone as a role model. But yeah, my father (Mr Sunil Prasad) is a director, and I have grown up around shooting floors, becoming a director was a natural choice. I have learned a lot from reading about successful people. Successful people learn from their failures and when you learn from the failures of multiple successful people, you learn to exponentially avoid making the same mistakes as they did. Being a student of psychology and I observe people, I look at the good and bad in people and try to use whatever good I learn from the people around me. Kids I feel are the best people to be around, they teach you so many things which we as individuals just plainly overlook. So yeah, not any single role model, but I have learnt a lot, from a lot of people.

  • Being a huge television and movies fan myself, if you have to name 5 of your all-time favourite movies from Bollywood and Hollywood, what it would be?

I love watching movies and as a kid, I have been watching Hollywood films. My first theatre experience of cinema was Superman II. So have grown up on a staple diet of Hollywood & Bollywood films. My favourite Bollywood films are (not in order of liking) 3 Idiots, Sholay, Mother India, KGF & Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron.

My favourite Hollywood Films are (again not in order of liking) The Dark Knight, Casablanca, Singing in the Rain, The Godfather, The Invisible Man, Vantage Point & 1917

  • How do you plan on expanding your entertainment venture?

For Phase 2 of FilmiAdda.com, we have planned to expand the bouquet of content to cover a vast array of entertainment platforms along with more information freely available to our users. Phase 2 aims to take the website to a global audience, while primarily catering to our users in India. Our target to achieve Phase 2 goals is by the first quarter of 2023.

  • If you had one piece of advice for someone who is just starting his or her business in this field, where should they begin?

What I would advise to all those who wish to do something in their life is “DO SOMETHING”. I know it might sound crazy but it’s better to try and fail than to have never tried at all. A saying I stumbled upon quite some time back is “The distance between dreams and reality is action” and I have found it to be true. I have been there where I just had a ton of ideas but nothing in hand, so please “do something” to do something in life.
