Pushkar is a city in the Ajmer district of Rajasthan, India. Pushkar is surrounded by hills on three sides and sand dunes on the remaining side. This ancient town is renowned for its religion, heritage, culture and scenic beauty. The magnificent Pushkar Lake attracts thousands of tourists in this town. There are many places and things to explore in this majestic town.

  • Pushkar Lake

Pushkar lake is the most famous landmark of this town, having more than 52 bathing ghats. It is believed that the lake was created when Brahma God dropped a lotus at this spot. Hindus come here to take a dip in this sacred water to purify themselves from their sins and also get cured of skin diseases. There are hundreds of blue coloured temples surrounding the lake to give a fascinating view.

  • Rangji Temple

Rangji temple is an important religious spot for the pilgrims, located on the eastern side of the Pushkar lake. This temple is built in a South Indian architectural style. It also has architectural styles of Rajput and Mughal designs making it unique. . This is one of the oldest temples devoted to Rangji, who is an incarnation of Vishnu. You can see here a large number of Vishnu devotees on important occasions.

  • Savitri Temple

Located on the top the Ratnagiri Hill, Savitri temple is a renowned pilgrimage spot for the Hindus. It is dedicated to Goddess Savitri who was the wife of Lord Brahma. You need to climb the stairs or use ropeway to reach this temple, you can enjoy a splendid view of the Pushkar Lake and the vast Thar Desert from the top.  It takes around one and a half hours to climb to the temple.

  • Gurudwara Singh Sabha

This is one of the holiest places to visit in Pushkar, where the Sikh gurus named Guru Nanak Dev and Guru Gobind Singh rested during their visit to Pushkar, in 1509 and 1706, respectively. It is situated in the centre of the city. You can find here the handwritten copy of Guru Granth Sahib.

  • Rose Garden, Pushkar

Pushkar is also famous for the Rose Garden of Rajasthan due to the rose farming done there. You will be delighted to see various varieties of rose plants filling up the acres and spreading their fragrance. The essence of the roses from Pushkar is famous worldwide and are exported all over the world. One feels relaxed by having a walk through these mesmerizing rose gardens. Pushkar rose garden is the largest rose garden in the country and its vibrant roses are sent to temples, dargahs, cosmetics factories and many other places.

  • Varah Ghat

The Varah Ghat is very famous for its evening Aarti and the fantastic view of the lake. The Aarti ceremony is done every night on the ghat with the chanting of prayers, it gives you a warm feeling. You also get a chance to buy artistic handicrafts or artefacts from the local vendors and much mouth-watering foods along the ghat.
