Borra Caves

It is located in the Ananthagiri area of the Visakhapatnam region of Andhra Pradesh is one of the country’s largest caves known as the Borra Caves. It is one of the most popular places to visit in Vishakapatnam.

There are several myths about the discovery of caves among the tribes living here. According to popular legend, the caves of Borra were discovered when a herdsman was searching for his lost cow when he came across the caves. He found Shiva Lingam inside the cave and believed that Lord Shiva had saved his cow.

The local people build a small temple outside a cave that is visited by people who come here. Another popular belief is that the Shiva Lingam found here was made of stone above the cow and the udder of this cow is believed to be the source of the Gosthani River flowing into the city of Vizag.

The caves of Borra were built as a result of the flow of the Gosthani River on limestone deposits. These caves are known for the amazing construction of stalactites and stalagmites such as Shiva-Parvathi, Rishi’s Beard, Mother-Child, Crocodile, Human Brain, Tiger and Cows udder.

Submarine Museum

Vizag is known not only for its stunning beaches but also for its many tourist attractions. One of these sites is the INS Kurusura submarine Museum, a museum founded on the shores of Rama Krishna. INS Kurusura is a Russian-built submarine in 1969. He arrived in Visakhapatnam in 1970 across the Baltic Sea and has since served in the Indian Army.

INS Kurusura worked for the Indian Navy for 31 years and was fired from his job and turned into a museum in 2001. At 91.3 meters long and 8 meters wide, the INS Kurusura submarine played a key role in many battles including the 1971 war. The Indo-Pak War.

Kailasagiri Park
